Faceless Champions Of The Middle Ground.

There is something called quiet satisfaction. It is rare that it happens sponataneously or accidentally, but this morning I am happy to say that it did.

I know I have spent a little too much time bemoaning the petty torments associated with my morning bus ride. This morning's was scarcely different. The driver thought we were in the middle of Beirut, and I believe tried to dodge invisible and quite imaginary roadside bombs 3 times. There was a wretched cup of coffee shoved between the seats which did nothing to make my "cup a joe" any more appetizing, but the absolute climax came when two people sitting in my vicinity (the only two people really) started discussing the "sinus infections" they are recovering from. I felt like I was in a petridish with these disease bags as they described their symptoms in moan inducing detail. Finally we came to my stop, and as the driver turned up Marion with the delicacy a Scimitar tank might plow through a refugee camp, my coffee just flew out of my cup all over these fools.

The smile that erupted on my face is of a kind that one only gets in the vicinity of marked down Demeulemeester.

The girls are enjoying a 6 game winning streak in the middle of Spring Training. I wonder if there is such a thing as a winning streak in Spring Training. I hope I didn't jinx them. I only mention it because apparently I'm an unwitting vessel of accidental and spontaneous misfortune. Delicious.

Boom Boom On Top.

The whole me as a a 65 year old woman thing is starting to pick up momentum. Upon hearing of my latest cheese selection (blue stilton) Compadre rang me up and proceeded to tell me in how many ways I'm a 65 year old woman. Apparently, even my selections at the cheese shop belie my youthful fresh and "now" pretenses. Of course he lectured me on all the best varieties and cautioned me away from some others. I immediately forgot all his recommendations as soon as I hung up the phone. The ravages of Alzheimers and all.
I did, in my own defence, make it through the weekend without buying a single tea cup. And I did happen to see just the cutest one. It didn't have a price tag, and even though it was probably 60 cents I just couldn't bring myself to ask anyone the cost for fear they would assume I couldn't afford it, and I was just wasting their time flaunting my penury, or worse, planning on stealing it. I just walked right away secure in the knowledge that their fiendish attempt to humiliate me had just cost them a sale. If I keep going like this people will not only be convinced that I'm a 65 year old woman, they might also be fooled into thinking I'm Canadian.
Baseball is almost here, and although I tried to pretend I was over it the pictures from Spring Training are just too precious to ignore, and the excitement is gripping us as ever before. Just look at that picture of Derek taking a tumble right flat on top of that little thing. Her name is Greg Norton and she's versatile. Oh, and there are more pictures. Believe me there are more. Mama had to go and make herself a folder on her desktop. She did.

Crack This Disc.

If I make it through this day without going ape shit on someone it's going to be by the graces and powers of some force that we as human being are yet to comprehend or appreciate. I might be exaggerating, but if I am it is barely by a whisper.

Cut myself shaving.

Cute boy was not on my bus this morning.

Irritating woman at work still speaks to me like I'm a baby. With food in her mouth. Claims she saw a fly in her house and became hysterical. Called the exterminator. I'm not joking she shared this with us. Said the smog is bothering her. In Seattle. Some other dude is talking to himself. I'm going to turn off my phone, put on my headphones, and drift away for a while.

You Will Never Know My Level Of Indifference.

Why don't you throw your low grade depression all over the place. Flaunt it. Want to talk about yourself some more please, don't let me stop you. Oh, I'm sorry, that has nothing to do with you does it? So when would that come up in conversation.

This is not a Bones day. It should be, but it's not. And as you might imagine it is not doing much for the affection I feel for my co-carbies. Bus riders to the front of the line.
So I guess that whole 11 episodes in a row bull pucky was just that. People need their idol. And their anti-depressants of varying forms. I suppose that means I'll be spending the night in a leather bar. Getting laid. Which is something a lot of people need to try. You know? Hot man sex. All the action and orgasms with none of the babies or diapers or child support. Try it. For God mother fucking sake try it!

Momentarily Lapsed Title.

You know the day might be starting off on the wretched foot when you begin your morning by cursing whatever life form brought your bus driver into existence. Such a blinding level of rage before one even walk into the office is quite discouraging. I mean honestly, you'd think the corn fed droopy cheeked thing could at least wait until I sit down before she lurches the bus. There is no common courtesy in the world anymore.
Some good news did come to my inbox the other day. There was a contest to enter which I entered, and then in the fine print I discovered that the third season of The Tudors begins on April 5th. Hopefully enough time to get Showtime installed on my box. Bejeweled waistcoats and corseted sex and executions for all! And Henry Cavill is one of the sexiest men walking the planet right now. I really can't frakin wait!

I Fainted In The Back Yard.

Although revolve clothing does carry every manner of tawdry Fred Perry colab they also happen to carry some very fine gear. Hard to find gear, wearable gear, fresh gear. You sometimes have to look hard, but if you do you may just be rewarded.
I was very pleased to discover that they have started to stock a label I have been coveting delicious for some time now. Scottish label Folk is the brain child of designer Cathal McAteer, and I have been intrigued by these clothes ever since I saw them. Now it isn't Folk & Fiends, or Fresh & Folk, or Rag and Folk, or Folk & Horns, or Fiber & Folk. It's just Folk. They really grab me with their simplicity. And they keep me with some flawlessly executed knitwear. Coupled with an appreciable and welcome lack of hype.
Still not available in Seattle, and I don't see that changing in the near future. Revolve is a great place to buy from, and I can totally recommend them, so if you like what you see you should not delay. The size runs of some of the better pieces have already been popped.

Something Seattle does have to offer is this new denim label Special Fabrications now available down the road at Kuhlman. Now I know raw denim is about as dead as supergravity, but these may be worth a gander. Or a goose. Or may not look so tired after 37 washings. Nonetheless, in the crunching world of $400 plus selvage, they are a breath of fiscally sensible fresh air.

These People Are Ridiculous.

So this weekend while I was doing my weekly thrifting I found the most adorable bone china tea cup. From the English Rose series or some such thing that really makes you get down with the 65 year old woman that all my friends tell me I'm becoming. I also happened to find the freshest pale yellow cable knit sweater. Vintage Ralph Lauren, $3.50, plus sales tax and one throrough washing. I rocked the bejezus out of that sweater yesterday hitting the market, and then a movie at the movie house. I also found this Our Legacy cable knit online at Tres Bien. It comes in 3 colors none of which is canary yellow, but hey, green is a neat color. Whatever color you choose, make sure you pick up your cable knit for spring. It really is a classic piece deserving a place in any wardrobe, but this spring I think it will be an extra special garment.

Compadre is still doing pizza right, and this time he is paying mind to the vegans of Los Angeles. Now things are blowing up because as I understand, vegan pizza is hard to find in Los Angeles. Of course edible food is hard to find in Los Angeles, but if you know where to find Compadre's grub you're two steps ahead of the pack. If you're doing it in a cable knit sweater, then just step back and take a bow. You've earned it.

Formulations Are Infinite.

Good night! I almost forgot. Happy Bones Day!

The day has been such a grind I totally forgot that today was Thursday and tomorrow is Friday, and the weekend approaches. I just looked up from some papers and it just hit me. Fresh!

I Can Fathom Nothingness.

So I do not mind telling anyone (obviously) that I have had just about enough of the ITEs. You know the ITEs. You hear them all the time. Especially on the insufferable NPR. Those that preface everything they say, comment on everything they hear, qualify every expression with the words "In This Economy".
I'm surprised someone hasn't come out with a tee shirt. It's like the new "Post 9-11". I mean every single method and manner in which the state controls your thoughts and actions (I'm not paranoid pick up a book and read it) they even have to use rhetoric. It's ghastly and hysterical in the same breath.
I don't mean to make light, but as I understand it, invading and occupying a hostile country is quite expensive and does not pay much in the way of dividends. And it isn't a sliding scale. It doesn't get cheaper the longer you occupy a country, the dead don't miraculously become undead and start spending money after a certain "grace period". It is just somewhere to throw money away. Bigger and dustier than Nordstrom. So where the hell did anyone think we were going with this? The Land of Milk and Honey?
I'm sure it is a gross oversimplification, but I've heard enough of it. Of course I had about enough of the words "Post 9-11" on September 15, 2001, but no one seemed to care about my sensitivities then, and I don't imagine anyone will give a fig now. I suppose I'm just going to have to wait for the next it expression to hit the cultural pulse. Think the FTGA's. "Following The Global Apocalypse...."
Delicious.

You Want Some.

11 episodes in a row yo!
Wikipedia is stating that the airdate is March 25th. That is (hopefully) a vicious lie. And the 25th isn't even a Bonesday.
Cool interview here.

The Stench Of Desperation All Over You.

This morning I realized that this is the first Seattle winter I have had to endure since 2003. I think I've managed to maintain my dignity through it all. The busses not running during the "blizzard", the blindingly expensive heating bill that just came in the mail, the new adorable ladyboy shoes I bought in LA that I can't possibly wear until June. It has all been a bit much, but this morning, when I woke up, and I checked the weather, and it told me (rather dispassionately) that it was 27 degrees out, I just about lost it. I have had it with this cold weather. I actually ran, ran, to catch the bus. Me? Running? To catch a bus? Just to get out of the infernal cold. It was degrading. I felt lost and emotionally helpless. Got to sit next to a hottie on the bus so it quickly passed.

One thing I can say that I enjoy about Seattle is the endless string of quality thrift stores in the area. Rarely a weekend goes by where I don't walk into one, and walk out with a treasure or two. Sometimes a charming bibelot, sometimes a nice Helmut Lang shirt. But, being in the Pacific Northwest there is an endless supply of vintage Pendleton, L.L. Bean, Woolworth, Ralph Lauren (personal fave), Eddie Bauer, and oceans, literal oceans of Abercrombie. Interestingly, but not altogether unsurprisingly, local boutique Blackbird is jumping on this new "American Classic" trend we read about in Newsweek, and is offering the easily acquired, newly trendy, toss-offs and is offering them at marked up boutique prices in something they call the Hornet's Nest. Predictable yawn inspiring trend whoring of the highest order to be sure, but it really takes the fun out of rifling through a pile of clothes and emerging with a $2.99 gem. I mean gem. Vintage Ralph Lauren hunting shirt with leather elbows gem! We likes to hunts.

Screaming High Above The Clarity.

So last week was just meant for me. First Derek was on the cover of US News Sports Edition, and then Bones was on the cover of TV Guide. I hope you all got your copy of TV Guide. I was shocked at how much it cost. Twice as muich as the Sunday paper which includes a TV Guide, crossword, and all that other crap. I was also stunned that they only provide TV listings for 3 hours of the day. The other 21 hours falling outside of prime-time need to be accessed elsewhere. Oh well, I suppose people only buy the filthy rag when something interesting is on the cover. I actually felt a little guilty about buying it so I went down and picked up my copy of Country Life. Now that is a cross word let me tell you how.

RoRo had surgery on his hip which according to reports could keep on the DL until May. Frightful prospect. There is little to report from spring training as Derek is at the World Baseball Classic, and I just can't bring myself to care about that.
Oh it snowed over the weekend. How weak is that?

Flash Sporadic & Wise.

Bomb threat in Seattle! Federal building, post office, the Irish pub a block away who knows? All I know is that it was mere inches from my work which meant my bus was rerouted through third street hell. I had to drive past two places I don't work at anymore, and a hideously over-hyped Pakistani bistro. blech! I tried to walk down Marion, and I was stopped by a not unhandsome security guard who almost lost his pants right there and then, but I had techno goin' on in my head and just needed a place to light. Whatever is happening in the federal building I'm sure Booth and Bones are safe and sound in the world of make believe.
Meanwhile I'm here at work with a bunch of up-tight dweebs that annoy me. And they speak as though they teach elementary school. Even when they are speaking to other adults. They "frost" their hair. And they think we don't notice.

Fragments Never To Be Recovered.

Facebooking is really starting to take over. I woke up this morning and there was more facebooking to do. I decided to wait until I got to work to start doing that. Work was so boring yesterday. I had absolutely nothing to do, but luckily I brought a book, and the office internet was working (which often it doesn't for some odd reason). The girl across from me is one of my facebook friends and we comment on each others "walls"throughout the day. It probably sounds more pathetic than it actually is. Compadre is yet to add me as his facebook friend. And I asked him twice. Both times last night when he read his English paper to me. I've earned me an extra facebook friend.
Seriously though, I really hope I have something to do today because I seriously have like 198 hours of DVD media that needs tending to.
