Windsor and Windsor Great Park
Latest trip to England was only slightly less harrowing than all the rest. I slept for quite a while and woke up in a daze eating something tasteless. Getting out of Heathrow was easy. Getting on the right train less so.
The room in Windsor is cold as fuck and I suppose that is normal in a country where central heating is still a distant dream for many and heating generally is seen as something 'aspirational' which I suppose is what you get when you have a country filled with people who aren't armed. On that note I erupted with a slight flare of patriotism when I discovered the local village Starbucks does not sell drip coffee only Ameericanos and precious espresso concoctions. I am almost positive I have ordered a drip coffee in this country, but from where and from when I can not be certain.
I didn't make it to the castle, but did portion of the the long walk not the whole thing I've done that, but that wasn't for today. There was a large police presence and one of them started to chat me up in the park. He asked me where I was from and when I said Seattle it was all over.
This bobby was into American sports and Seattle was his town. Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders and Kraken it just became a whirlwind of shit I did not understand, but he went on and on. He tried to tell me why there was such a police presence, something about a terrorism threat and I should see them in most high profile areas so there was that mystery solved, but where I got the idea that I could walk into Starbucks and order a drip coffee is anyone's guess.
Landing a British husband is a main plot line goal which still eludes me, but based on today's happenings and a conversation which still confuses me, I should probably acquaint myself with American sports if I want to increase my chances.
