Finding The Perfect Gift.

I promised myself that I would limit myself (for today only) to making statements that could in no way be considered indecent so here goes...
I found these tee shirts on Barneys yesterday while I was at work trying to look useful. I don't know if you remember the old ICR vs. Deth Killers of Bushwick brand, but I do. I looked and looked, and when I found I was yet to feel the wisdom of purchasing an $80 tee shirt (let alone one in a mall in Scottsdale) so I held off, the label went belly up, and I was consistently outbid every time I tried to acquire one on ebay. And they did not come up for auction very often.
Well lucky for me they have launched a new series of collectible tee shirts by the name of Des Kiraz. 10 in all I gather, and some of them are available at Barneys and elsewhere I imagine. Although now they are not $80, but rather $125, but the years have made me slightly more cautious and I don't think I'm going to let them slip through my fingers this time.

I Will Be Good.

As promised and despite the uncooperative nature of King County Metro the first thing I did in 2010 was see The Young Victoria. And it was simply enchanting! But no, no Oscar for Ms. Blunt is her name I found out. Midway through I remembered Judi Dench in Mrs. Brown and was quite relieved this movie doesn't go into any of that. It's hard for me to separate the movie from the countless books I've read from Weintraub to E.F Benson to Longford, but I was a little pleased that I was by myself. I think I had a special appreciation for the subject matter... And I kinda went ape-shit on these cretinous goons that insisted on trying to maneuver around me. I won't say what I did, but they ended up walking all the way around the theater to enter the row on the other side. Well away from me I can assure you. Creeps.
Followed that with some sales. Cold Cream Soap at Loccitane, and everything at Barneys was an extra 33% off so I scored a nice Burkman Bros hoodie. Still eyeing the Deth Killers tees, and am seconds away from pouncing on that as they are now on well over 50% discount. They really have nothing to do with my style however.

Thrifting a bust.
Apartment spic and span although at the cost of "acquiring" another storage unit.
Blazed through the second season of Big Love with boat loads of Miss Marple on the way!
Started reading this book called Wolf Hall. It's also about English people of the past specifically Thomas Cromwell, Wolsey and More and yeah it just hit me that those three jokers have the same name. I first heard about it in the issue of Country Life where they featured all the Booker Prize nominees. I had forgotten all about it when I found it under the tree already having won the prize. Oh Joy! And it's about English people did I mention that? A little strange to be reading fiction after 2 and half years, but the words and such are generally the same. Came up empty handed at the used book store which is probably a good thing as this may keep me occupied for a while. So many descriptions for essential things. Oh well. I guess that's how fiction writers do it. Loquaciously.

Forever In Blue Jean.

The weekend was massive. Off the chain. It started with traditional English Tea at this joint in Pasadena. Angela Landsbury was there last week shit you not. Served on Royal Doulton. I thought about it and it was probably the everyday best china and not the best china, but still. Amazing sandwiches, scones with lashes of clotted cream and jelly. Lovely sweets and endless tea. Appropriately expensive. Connected to a lovely shop which caries the best selection of Barbour I've seen. I hope people get off that dog pile real quick. Oh, and picked up a Royal Collection Royal Wedding china tea cup which was outrageously expensive. It almost took my breath away, but I didn't hesitate. Not for a single instant.

The Colony was wonderful. I want to live there. Not sure I get the RRL store. Not sure I get RRL. They had some fresh bracelets but I'm not feeling jewelry at the moment. Everyone was laid back and relaxed. Saw a badass Givenchy bag on a lady who otherwise looked strung out and homeless. Scored a Deth Killers shirt at Barney's but after they hassled me at the door for setting off their alarm I was ready to give it back. But I have waited 7 years for one and I've been trying to choose my battles. I always swear I'll never go back to that store and I always do. Why?

The visit to The Queen Mary may have been the highlight. Of the year actually until this Friday. I'm not a poet or wordsmith so I don't think I could do the whole thing justice. Just go. You can actually stay there. They have rooms, and lounges and sun decks, and shops. One of which was selling some more Wills and Kate tat which I had to seriously restrain myself from. It's actually a vision in Art Deco which isn't even my thing, but I can certainly appreciate it. Lots of French people.

Muffin is back in the house. After spending 7 months in the country. We've been having snuggle times all morning. Work interferes... Work may have to go.
