How Am I Captive

The Captivate Network provides downtown's elevator riding public with all manner of news (generally outdated in lieu of the internet), sounbites, blurbs, surveys and the like. This morning the Captivate Network informed me the women that consume 2 or more alcoholic beverages increase their odds of contracting breast cancer by 10%. Yes... Researchers say this. Which researchers you might ask? Well, American researchers naturally. Who else. Which American researchers? Well... Those American researchers that did this study. How many people did they study? Well, you know, the number that they used in the study.

It's all too Orwellian for me to even fathom. Sometimes I think that if the Captivate Network told us to kill the person standing next to us half the nitwits in the elevator actually would. It is a post 9-11 world after all, and common sense is a luxury we all lost on that fateful September morn. Good luck...
