Notes From 175.

Albee saw himself as a figurehead in the burgeoning LA mod scene. You're forgiven if you didn't realize there was one. After a 10 year stint in England he came to LA with an eye to bringing the peetering out dole culture to the kids with tans and blackberrys. This is where he met up with Linda. An aspiring dj and club promoter herself the two instantly hit it off, and planned to start a monthly mod party. They even had a myspace page to tap into the youth culture. An important aspiration for anyone in the grasping mid-youth culture.

Predictably the first Mod party didn't go so well and all the money Linda fronted didn't come back to her. Unshaken and undeterred Albee found himself a new benefactress in the form of Susie. Susie had a limited supply of cash, and unlike Linda was more than willing to pour it into an ill conceived venture with Albee. At the new mod party, not unlike the second mod party the kids came out in less than force, but Linda was on the outs. Not even given a 20 minute dj set, Linda was enraged and she started to make calls. One of these calls she made while I was riding on the 175 back to Silverlake trying to read The Last Temptation Of Christ. I have no idea what happened in the last 10 pages, but something tells me I didn't miss much.

It seems Albee does have a shady past, and Linda knew this all too well. Albee dumped his girlfriend of 8 years in favor of a patroness roughly 3 places in line ahead of Linda. Girlfriend of 8 years completely lost it and married a meth head and no one has really heard from her since. Linda knew all of this, but was so taken with Albee she couldn't resist in joining their mod forces together in one united front. So in a sense Linda saw this coming, but thought she might be different. Could it have been her bangs? Her penchant for 60s era hemlines? Who knows? But something told Linda (just one of the small voices in her head that doesn't interrupt me while I'm reading on the bus) that she was the one that could change Albee. Albee wasn't a creep, he just needed the right woman, and the 16 or 27 that came before weren't like Linda. They were weak. Whereas Linda is strong. Linda has her shit together provided she has a man in her life. Linda has direction provided she has a man in her life. Linda acts almost normal provided she has a man in her life. Linda would probably not be annoying me if she had a man in her life.

Linda will one day find her strength as soon as she finds another creep. She will rise from the ashes, and before you know it you may see Linda spinning her 20 minute set at a club you'll never want to come back to. Later in life Linda will become a Keno waitress.

In less startling news that wasn't thrust upon me, recovering addict and reborn Mets lackey Darryl Strawberry is putting his face all up in Derek's business. And the world breathes a collective sigh of indifference. There I go speaking for the world again.

According to Wikipedia, Derek is Bob Dylan's favorite baseball player. Bob Dylan never actually said this, but the accuracy of wikipedia is unquestionable.

American Apparel is selling out. Quite literally. To the tune of 380 something million dollars.

Superstar Belgian designer Martin Margiela is making the most delicious wallets that you can buy for me here.

In the alternative I would also like this top from Imitation of Christ. I know it's for girls, but I really don't give a fig. Me wants it.

Me also wants this Lucien Pellat-Finet bracelet.

I covet things.

All of these items and more are available via the links on the right. In case you never bothered to look.
